Founded in 2011 by the private sector, the nonprofit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt International Security Foundation (ISF) protects U.S. interests overseas through education, information sharing and funding the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) and other security-related organizations. ISF support from individual and corporate donations has created a stronger, more responsive OSAC, since the Federal Advisory Committee Act prohibits OSAC from using federal funds for public-private event programming.
